Tulsa Stays Hot, Downs Erie 103-97

Erie, Pennsylvania - The Tulsa 66ers slipped past the Erie BayHawks in a defensive battle, 103-97 as the 66ers won their fifth straight and improved to 28-10. Robert Vaden led Tulsa with a game-high 20 points.

Tulsa jumped out to a six point lead early in the first quarter but Erie battled back to tie the game at 20 going into the second frame. Erie then fell behind by eleven before pulling to within four at the halftime break.

The third quarter belonged to the BayHawks' as the home team outscored Tulsa 28-19, led by Garrett Temple's nine points. But the 66ers proved too much for Erie in the fourth.

Tulsa's Larry Owen's scored 12 of his 19 points in the frame and Tulsa forced five Erie turnovers to lead back a lead with four minutes left to play. Tulsa was able to pull away as Erie was forced to foul and the 66ers made nine of their last ten free throw attempts in the game's final minutes. Erie couldn't make up the spread Erie dropped to 24-13 on the season.

Elijah Millsap and Owens had 19 a piece for Tulsa, and Jerome Dyson added 16.

Tasmin Mitchell led the BayHawks with a double-double scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Four other players scored in double figures for Erie, including Kyle Spain, and Ivan Johnson who finished with 17, Temple who chipped in 15, and Loren Stokes that added 11.

Erie will take on Tulsa for the back end of the double header on Saturday Night at 7pm at the Tullio Arena.
