NEW YEAR, SAME US: Sophomore netminder Austin Elliott picked up his second shutout of the season Monday in the Saskatoon Blades 4-0 victory against the Brandon Wheat Kings at SaskTel Centre.

The Strathmore, AB product stopped 28 shots to improve his record to 16-4-2-1 and move him within eight wins of 50 in his WHL career.

Captain Trevor Wong led the way offensively with three points (1G, 2A) to extend his point streak to nine games. Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick Brandon Lisowsky and Anaheim Ducks draft pick Egor Sidorov also extended their point streaks to nine with two-point performances. Lisowsky scored the game-winning goal in the first period and dished a helper on Wong's goal while Sidorov earned two helpers.

It's an impressive victory for the Blue and Gold who came into the game with only ten forwards dressed at the start of the game. Saskatoon now has points in 13 straight games with a 10-0-2-1 record in that time.

NEXT GAME: The Blades play back-to-back interprovincial games this weekend. First is a 7:00pm start Friday at the Brandt Centre against the Regina Pats, followed by a 7:00pm start at the Art Hauser Centre the next night against at the Prince Albert Raiders.

Friday's contest marks the Saskatoon's 4,000th game in franchise history.
