Matchup Notes
Today marks the second and final meeting of the season between the Oil Kings and Silvertips after Edmonton claimed a 5-3 win over the 'Tips exactly one month ago at Rogers Place in the team's annual Teddy Bear Toss game in front of 17,226 fans.
In the prior meeting, the Oil Kings erased a 3-2 third period deficit with three unanswered goals from Ty Nash, Marc Lajoie and an empty-netter by former Silvertip Roan Woodward. Lanson Hanson and Marshall Finnie scored earlier in the game for the Oil Kings while Teague Patton, Ben Hemmerling and Julius Miettinen had the goals for Everett. Kolby Hay made 36 saves for the win while Ethan Chadwick turned in 20 in the losing cause.
The Oil Kings have lost their last four visits to the Angel of the Winds Arena with their last win coming on March 1, 2013 by a 7-1 score when the arena was then known as XFINITY Arena.
Coming In
The Oil Kings come in riding a four-game point streak (3-0-1-0) after a 4-3 overtime loss to the Victoria Royals on Saturday night at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
Ty Nash opened the scoring for a third straight game for Edmonton while Skyler Bruce and Smyth Rebman would also find the back of the net. Oil Kings affiliate netminder Hudson Perry turned in 30 saves in just his second career WHL start. The Oil Kings went 0-for-3 on the PP while the PK was a perfect 2-for-2.
The Silvertips come in off a 5-4 win on Saturday in Seattle over the Thunderbirds, they've now won three of their last four games. Sitting at 22-13-1-1 they are third in the U.S. Division just three points behind the first place Wenatchee Wild.
