
Oil Kings Pull out Last-Second 6-5 Win over Silvertips

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips dropped their first game of 2024 by a 6-5 score to the Edmonton Oil Kings on Monday afternoon.
Everett led 2-1 late in the first period thanks to goals by Carter Bear and Julius Miettinen, but a Marc Lajoie 5-on-3 powerplay goal with 13 seconds left on the clock sent the contest into the first intermission tied.
Edmonton claimed their second lead of the game at 3:11 in the second thanks to a Cole Miller backdoor tally. Everett answered with goals in rapid succession at 10:16 and at 12:21, both scored by Beau Courtney for his ninth and tenth of the season respectively. Hayden Smith collected primary assists on both tallies. Parker Alcos' first career WHL goal at 4-on-4 knotted the game for Edmonton at 16:56, though Carter Bear's second of the game at 18:52 gave the Tips a 5-4 lead heading into the third period.
Roan Woodward once more brought the Oil Kings to even at 13:18 in the final frame, with Ty Nash scoring the game-winner with just 6.6 seconds on the clock.
Kolby Hay stopped 38 of 43 in the Oil Kings' win.
