(Norfolk, VA) - Roenis Elias dealt the first nine-inning complete game of the season for the Pawtucket Red Sox, surrendering just one run in a 4-1 victory over the Norfolk Tides on Sunday afternoon at Harbor Park that cemented both a series win and a winning road trip.

Elias struck out eight, while allowing six hits and two walks to earn his third win in his last four starts. He has recorded 21 strikeouts in his two starts against the Tides this season.

Elias joined Steven Wright as the only Pawtucket pitchers to toss a nine-inning complete game since 2013. Wright accomplished the feat three times, most recently in a loss on June 26, 2015. The last such performance in a win came from Wright on July 28, 2013.

The 4-1 victory propelled the PawSox to a 4-2 road trip and their second four-game series win of the season. The other came in Rochester on the season's first sojourn in April.

Pawtucket scored the first run of the game on Ryan LaMarre's leadoff home run (5) over the left field fence in the third inning, his third long ball in his last seven games.

Norfolk responded in the bottom half of the frame, tying the score on Elias' only blemish of the game.

Michael Almanzar delivered a one-out, solo home run over the wall in left center field.

Pawtucket retook the lead in the fifth. Deven Marrero led off the frame with a single to left and Jose Vinicio followed with a bunt single, his fourth bunt hit of the series. Marrero scored the go-ahead run on Justin Maxwell's sacrifice fly.

Deven Marrero, who had gone 22 games without multiple hits before he collected a pair of singles last night, tallied another multi-hit game on Sunday that consisted of two singles and a double.

The PawSox tacked on two more runs to their lead in the sixth inning.

Two singles and a walk loaded the bases for Vinicio with two outs. He came through again with a line-drive, two-run single into center field that extended Pawtucket's advantage to 4-1.

Vinicio, who did not have a Triple-A hit prior to this series, went 8-for-15 with five RBI in the four games against the Tides.

The second baseman Vinicio also made a terrific running catch, chasing a ball down in center field in the eighth inning, one of a number of gems in another great defensive game for the PawSox.

Elias finished his masterful performance by striking out five of the final eight batters he faced, including the final two hitters of the game.

He needed just 88 pitches to get through the first eight frames before tossing 21 more in the ninth to seal the complete game.

Pawtucket went 5-2 vs. Norfolk this season, its first season-series win over the Tides since 2008.

The PawSox return to McCoy Stadium for a seven-game homestand, beginning with tomorrow night's contest against the Toledo Mud Hens at 7:05 p.m. Lefthander Henry Owens (4-2, 3.86) is scheduled to make the start for Pawtucket. Radio coverage on WHJJ (920 AM) and throughout the PawSox radio network begins at 6:35 p.m.

New England Patriots defensive linemen Jabaal Sheard and Joe Vellano are scheduled to make appearances at tomorrow's game. Good seats for each game of the homestand are still available at the McCoy Stadium box office, by calling (401) 724-7300 or by visiting pawsox.com.
