Rome Emperors News Release
Rome, GA - The Kannapolis Intimidators defeated the Rome Braves 13-3 Tuesday night at State Mutual Stadium before a crowd of 2,326. Braves pitching could not solve the Kannapolis hitters as they put up eighteen hits and spoiled Rome's final game at home with the victory. The next Rome Braves home game will be April 12th 2012.
Dan Black gave Kannapolis an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first when he laced an RBI single to right. Keenyn Walker singled to start the inning and moved over to second on a groundout before scoring on Black's single. Robert Hefflinger had a two out single for the Braves in the bottom of the second and was immediately brought home to tie the game 1-1 when Ryan Delgado sent an RBI double to the right field gap.
In the top of the third after Black singled to left and Trayce Thompson was hit by a pitch, Rangel Ravelo gave the Intimidators the lead once again when he yanked a two RBI double down the third base line. One out later Ross Wilson extended their lead with an RBI single up the middle to make it a 4-1 game. In the top of the fourth Colin Kuhn (3) got what would turn out to be a five run inning for Kannapolis started with a solo homer to left. The Intimidators poured on the runs after that as Ravelo added his third RBI of the night on a groundout and Wilson had another RBI hit with a double to left. Another run crossed the plate on a wild pitch by Braves starter Ronan Pacheco and Kannapolis left the inning with an 8-1 inning.
Ryan Delgado (1) blew some wind into the Braves' sails with a solo homer to left in the bottom of the fifth to make it a 9-2 game. Edward Salcedo also contributed with a run scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth but it would be all the Braves could get on the night. Kannapolis added four more runs in the game thanks to Ravelo's second two RBI double of the night and a Kevin Dubler RBI single as they cruised to a 13-3 win over the Braves.
Spencer Arroyo (10-9) earns the win for Kannapolis and Ronan Pacheco (5-8) takes the loss Rome.
The Braves will be back at State Mutual Stadium with their home opener next year on April 12th 2012. For ticket information, contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
