Lexington Legends' outfielder Emilio King has been named South Atlantic League Player of the Week for the period of August 22-28, SAL President Eric Krupa announced today (Monday).

For the period, King batted .556 with 15 hits in 27 at-bats in seven games. He had six doubles, two home runs and seven RBI. He had five hits in five at-bats against Asheville August 24, including a three-run homer.

"Emilio has been an exciting player to watch this season. He has really grown and progressed as a player and as a person, and he has certainly dominated in the past week," said Legends' General Manager Andy Shea. "He's very deserving of Player of the Week honors."

The Legends are currently on their final road trip of the season. They will play the West Virginia Power in Charleston tonight and Tuesday night. Following an off day Wednesday, the Legends will open a five-game series at Whitaker Bank Ballpark Thursday against the Savannah Sand Gnats to close out the 2011 season. Game time Thursday is 5:05 p.m., and fans are invited to stay after the game and watch the Kentucky-Western Kentucky football game on the video boards.
