Wichita Thunder News Release

SOUTHAVEN, MS- The Wichita Thunder lost 4-2 to the Mississippi RiverKings at the DeSoto Civic Center on Sunday afternoon.

Anders Strome ripped a power play goal from the top of the right faceoff circle at 2:54 to give the Thunder a 1-0 lead. The RiverKings answered back 37 seconds later on a goal from Ryan Held. Held picked up a rebound during a scramble in front of the Thunder's net and slipped it past Scott Campbell's left pad. Mississippi took its first lead of the night at 8:03 on a two-on-one. Glenn Detulleo made a left pass to Tyler Doherty who capped off the odd-man rush with a shot past Campbell's right.

Wichita potted an early goal in the second as well, this one a game-tying score from JR Bria. Kevin Cooper drove to the net and had a point-blank range shot poke checked by Tim Boron, leaving the puck sitting on the crease for Bria to punch into the left side of the net. Mississippi re-gained the lead at 7:21 on a goal by Detulleo. A turnover underneath the hashmarks left the puck wide open for Detulleo who turned and then fired past Campbell's right to make it 3-2. The RiverKings extended the lead to 4-2 with less than 35 seconds left in the period. On a three-on-two, Louis Dumont chipped the puck to his right for Darrell Stoddard who used a slapshot from the right circle to score to the long side of the net.

Mississippi kept Wichita off the board through the third period to hold for the win. Scott Campbell faced 40 shots, stopping 36 in the loss. Boron was 23 of 25 for the win. Bria's goal was his first of the year.

The Thunder heads home for a rematch against the RiverKings on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. For tickets, call the Thunder office at (316) 264-GOAL.
