Colorado Eagles News Release

WINDSOR, CO - The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League signed former Tulsa Oilers goaltender Marco Emond. The Valleyfield, Quebec native was placed on waivers by the Oilers and claimed by Colorado earlier in the week. To make room for Emond, the Eagles had to waive rookie netminder Stephen Siwiec, who started Friday against the Rocky Mountain Rage and only stopped three of seven shots.

The 28-year old Emond, who is entering his ninth professional season and went 21-17-1 on a team that won only 29 games last season. His .907 save percentage was first on the Oilers, and his 2285 minutes played were the second most of his eight year professional career.

Prior to coming to the Eagles he won a President's Cup Championship with the Laredo Bucks during the 2003-04 season, as he helped the Bucks to the best ever CHL mark at 48-8-8. His 2.10 goals against, three shutouts, and 22-4-3 record earned him his second trip to the American Hockey League, this time with the San Antonio Rampage. In 2002-03 with the Elmira Jackals, Emond went 33-15-3, with a 3.08 goals against average, while making his initial stop in the AHL with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. As a pro Emond has a career mark of 117-72-16 in 227 appearances.

With the signing of Emond, the Eagles released goaltender Stephen Siwiec who was signed in the off-season from Boston University.
