Colorado Eagles News Release
LOVELAND, CO- The Colorado Eagles won their seventh straight home game Wednesday night 4-1 against the Tulsa Oilers at the Budweiser Events Center. Seth Leonard had a hat trick for the Eagles in his third game with the team, and Aaron Schneekloth tallied three assists for Colorado who remain in first place in the Northwest Division with a record of 10-2-0. Colorado out shot the Oilers 46-26 marking the fifth time this season the Eagles have had 40 or more shots in a game. The Eagles will take Thanksgiving Day off and return to the Budweiser Events Center on Friday night to take on the Rocky Mountain Rage.
Seth Leonard scored his second goal of the season in just his third game when an Aaron Schneekloth shot bounced off of Leonard and just rolled across the goal line. The Eagles had the 1-0 lead for the next 12 minutes of the first period until Spencer Carbery lifted a backhand from the middle of the crease past the glove hand of Marco Emond. Colorado out shot the Oilers 13-10 in the period, but neither team was able to muster another goal and it marked only the second time all season the Eagles had finished the first period with a tie game.
Colorado's special teams were back at it again in the second period. Oilers' forward Jaroslav Cesky went to the box for a five-minute elbowing penalty and the Eagles scored their league-leading 28th power play goal of the season. Chris Hartsburg tipped in an Aaron Schneekloth shot for his fourth power play goal of the season; Brad Williamson also assisted on the play. Only one minute later, the Eagles continued their shorthanded pace with their 10th goal of the season. Riley Nelson dropped a pass back to Seth Leonard and lit the lamp for the second time giving the Eagles a 3-1 lead. Colorado out shot Tulsa 21-6 in the second period scoring with both goals coming by way of special teams.
After a scoreless 18 minutes of play in the third period, Seth Leonard capped his hat trick with 1:14 remaining on a empty net goal giving the Eagles their seventh straight win at the Budweiser Events Center. Final Score: Eagles 4- Oilers 1.
