Mississippi RiverKings News Release

This Saturday, November 25 the Memphis RiverKings are asking fans to support The Food Bank by bringing boxes of macaroni and cheese to the game; the RiverKings play the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at the DeSoto County Civic Center at 7:05 p.m.

The Food Bank, located in Memphis, Tennessee, serves 31 counties throughout Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi; striving for a hunger free Mid-South community. "Eighteen of the counties we service are in Northern Mississippi", David Stephens, Community Relations Director for The Food Bank stated. "We have partnered with the RiverKings for several years now. It really helps us to get into the public, and gives us an opportunity to show Northern Mississippi that we support so many communities in the area."

Fans that bring four boxes of mac and cheese will get $2 off the purchase of any red (originally $12), green (originally $16), or gold level (originally $18) ticket. Furthermore, a RiverKings prize pack, valued at over $200, will be awarded to the fan that brings the most macaroni and cheese by weight. This amazing prize pack includes: an autographed replica jersey, autographed hockey stick and an eight game voucher pack.

Sticking with the MACaroni Madness theme, the first 1,500 fans through the doors Saturday will receive a seven inch tall Kevin McClelland "Mac" bobblehead, sponsored by First Tennessee Bank. "The bobblehead is great. I wish I had that much hair still," RiverKings Head Coach Kevin McClelland joked. "The bobblehead really brings back some memories."

Fans are encouraged to bring a box of mac and cheese into the arena to use as a noise maker during the game and support 'MAC', the RiverKings and The Food Bank this Saturday. The "noisemaker" can be donated to The Food Bank following the game.

The Food Bank is happy to be a part of MACaroni Madness. "It's quirky, fun. What's more lots of people enjoy mac and cheese. The goal for this event is to fill one mac and cheese order, a full pallet. Filling one mac and cheese order for The Food Bank will feed 43,008 kids," Stephens said.

Coach McClelland reiterated the team and organizations support for the event, "It's great to be a part of a night like this. Creatively supporting this good cause and the team shows the class of this organization, and how well people are looked over in the community thanks to the Maddox Foundation."

On a night dedicated to helping those in need, another way to donate is through the Memphis South Stars Retro game jersey auction, following the game during a post game skate. Proceeds from the auction support Friends of Horn Lake and Hernando Youth Sports. Friends of Horn Lake is a non-profit group composed of community members whose focus is to support several groups in the Horn Lake area.

Saturday night will not be the only night RiverKings fans receive a promotional giveaway this weekend. Friday when the 'Kings face off against the Wichita Thunder, the first 1,500 fans through the door will receive a Q107.5 Rally Towel.
