Gorillas Earn First Shutout Of Season Blanking Rage 2-0

AMARILLO, TX - The Gorillas specialty jerseys seem to appeal to Gorillas net minder Shawn Conschafter. Three weeks ago when the Gorillas took to the ice in their American Pride jerseys Conschafter stole the show earning the game's first star honors by making 34 saves on 36 shots in a 3-2 win over the Youngstown Steelhounds. And tonight the Thanksgiving jerseys seemed to fit just fine with the Buffalo, New York goaltender as well. Conschafter stopped 31 Rocky Mountain Rage shots as the Gorillas earned their first shutout of the season blanking the Rage 2-0 in front of nearly 3,000 fans as the Amarillo Civic Center. Bill Vandermeer scored at even strength in the opening frame and Jason Chafe added an insurance marker late in the second period to preserve the win for Amarillo.
With the win, the Gorillas improve to 6-4-2 on the season and now have earned 14 points in the Southwest Division standings. The Gorillas also continue to dominate on their home ice as the Apes improved to 4-0-2 when skating in the Jungle and they remain the only team in the Southwest Division yet to have suffered a regulation loss on their home ice. The win for Conschafter is his 4th of the season as his record improved to 4-1-1 with the victory. Conschafter has now made 52 saves on 54 shots in his last 2 appearances, both victories for the Gorillas.
Amarillo is back in action this Friday when they head to Tulsa to battle the Oilers. The opening face off will come at 7:35 so be sure to tune into your Apartment Guide Amarillo Gorillas pre-game show, which will get underway at 7:20 and can be heard on 1010 AM The Canyon.
