Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Amarillo, Texas - Despite out-shooting the Amarillo Gorillas, 31-23, the Rocky Mountain Rage were shut-out, 2-0, at the Amarillo Civic Center. Gorillas goaltender Shawn Conschafter made 31 saves in the winning effort as the Rage fell to 3-7-2 on the season.
Amarillo's Bill Vandermeer, the younger brother of Rage captain Dan Vandermeer opened the scoring at 3:13 of the opening period to give the Gorillas a 1-0 edge through the first 20 minutes.
The teams traded several power play chances in the second period with Amarillo finally breaking through for an insurance goal at 17:57 when Jason Chafe knocked in a rebound off a mad scramble in front of Rage netminder Trevor Cunning, who had made two previous stops during the flurry.
Rocky Mountain out-shot their hosts, 13-6, in the third period but could not solve Conschafter.
The Rage's eights points in the standings keep them in fourth place in the Northwest Division as the club suffered its second shutout in a row.
They now turn their attention to a home-and-home series with the Colorado Eagles. The two intrastate rivals square-off in Loveland at the Budweiser Events Center on Friday, Nov. 24, before playing their fourth game out of five against one another on Saturday, Nov. 25, at the Broomfield Event Center at 7:05 p.m.
Saturday's tilt in Broomfield is "Run from Your Relatives Night," featuring a Family Four Pack for only $60. The Four Pack includes four tickets, four hot dogs, four soft drinks, and four pretzels and can be expanded to accommodate additional tickets.
Single game tickets for the fifth installment in the Rocky Mountain Rivalry and every other Rage home game are on sale with prices ranging from $15-$40 per seat.
