Dustin Sproat Returns to Cyclones
November 11, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The 2010 Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Dustin Sproat.
Sproat, a Red Deer, Alberta native, returns to Cincinnati for a third season after starting the year playing overseas for the Nottingham Panthers (EIHL). While with Nottingham, he tallied 18 points (6 goals, 12 assists) in 17 games. In 2009-10, Sproat was the second leading scorer for the Cyclones, averaging nearly a point-per-game - 59 points (24 goals, 35 assists) in 66 regular-season contests. In last year's Kelly Cup Playoff run, the fourth-year pro played in all 24 games and led the Cyclones in scoring with 20 points (11 goals, 9 assists).
"I'm very excited to have Dustin back with this organization," said Cyclones Head Coach Jarrod Skalde. "He's a proven winner with a tremendous offensive upside. Beyond that, though, he is a person with great character. I know he will be a strong asset for us."
In addition to his work on the ice, Sproat is also the founder and Executive Director of Hockey Players for Kids (HP4K) - an all-volunteer organization, harnessing the leadership and enthusiasm of exceptional people playing professional hockey in communities throughout North America and positively impacting the lives of children. For more information on Hockey Players for Kids, visit HP4K.org.
Sproat will be on the ice this Friday at the Huntington Center when the Cyclones battle the Toledo Walleye. Hear the game live on MAX-FM beginning with Cyclones Warm-Up at 6:45pm with the opening faceoff at 7:00pm.
The defending Kelly Cup Champions will return home this Saturday night for "Throwback Night" against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:30pm. The Cyclones will wear special-edition retro jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game. Tickets for the Throwback Night are only $8. In addition to $1 John Morrell Hotdogs, $1 Donatos Pizza, and $1 Soda, the first 10,000 fans through the gates will receive a Schedule Poster courtesy of The Plastic Surgery Group. Discounted ticket packages and single game tickets for the 2010-2011 season are available now. For more information, call 513.421.PUCK (7825) or visit CyclonesHockey.com.
