Alaska Aces News Release
The Alaska Aces are proud to invite their fans to participate in this weekend's Military Appreciation Weekend as the Aces host the Ontario Reign at Sullivan Arena. The Aces will be home on Friday and Saturday Night at 7:15pm, and on Sunday afternoon at 5:05pm. Come out and celebrate with a salute to the military on Friday and Saturday Nights, and then have your chance to skate with the Aces after the game Sunday. For more information, please call the Aces at 907.258.ACES or visit them online at www.alaskaaces.com.
In recognition of our military members' service to our country, the Aces are proud to host Military Appreciation Weekend during the first two games of the three-game home stand. On Friday and Saturday, the Aces will be dressed in special, "Gone, But Not Forgotten" military-themed jerseys, which will be auctioned off to fans after Saturday's game. Additionally, there will be representatives from all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, and several military guests present at both games. Fans are also encouraged to join the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots collection, as the Aces will collect toys at the arena on both nights. There are two ways for fans to donate new, unwrapped toys at the game. Fans can bring new, unwrapped, plush toys, such as teddy bears, and throw them onto the ice following the Aces first goals on Friday and Saturday. Fans can also bring large new, unwrapped toys and donate them at the Sullivan Arena entrance. All toys collected will be donated this holiday season as part of the Toys for Tots program.
Although the Toys for Tots Program was established in 1947, Alaska has had its own unique program for over fifteen years. Toys for Tots helps provide over 30,000 toys to families in Anchorage, the Mat-Su Valley, Interior Alaska, local Churches, and other organizations like Special Santa and The Red Cross. Because of the high cost to ship freight, Marines have to use resourceful ways to ensure toys make it out to the villages of rural Alaska. There are many elements that could be harmful to the safety of the Marines during delivery. It is important to ensure that everyone taking part in the remote delivery is properly trained on safe snow machine riding techniques, and in cold weather survival. If not for the generous support of the people of Alaska, the Toys for Tots program would not be the success story it has been for the past fifteen years. The Toys for Tots program is truly about Alaskans taking care of Alaskans. Come be a part of all the festivities this Friday and Saturday.
Then on Sunday, the Aces are happy to host their first Fred Meyer Skate with the Aces session following the game. After Sunday's game, Aces players will return to the ice from the locker room to take part in a public skating session with the fans. Fans can bring their skates to the rink and skate with the team for free. Fans must have skates to go on the ice with the team. While on the ice, fans will be able to take pictures with, and get autographs from their favorite Aces.
Don't miss out on your chance to be a part of Military Appreciation Weekend, and the first Fred Meyer Skate with the Aces of the season. It's all at Sullivan Arena this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. For more information, please call the Aces office at 907.258.ACES or visit them online at www.alaskaaces.com.
