Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
GREENVILLE, SC - The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that they have signed forwards Jimmy Kilpatrick and Paul McIlveen to standard contracts.
Kilpatrick was a member of the 2010 Kelly Cup champion Cincinnati Cyclones and finished third on the team with 16 points (7G, 9A) during the playoffs. He led the Cyclones with 40 assists last season and improved on his 49 points as a rookie in 08-09 by six points. A 6-0, 185-pound forward, Kilpatrick led the 2008-09 Cyclones in the playoffs with 16 points (2G, 14A) in 15 games. He turned pro after a four-year NCAA career with Colorado College. He piled up 109 points (37G, 72A) in 148 with the Tigers and led the team in 2006-07 with 32 points (7G, 25A). Road Warriors head coach Dean Stork was an assistant coach in Cincinnati for each of Kilpatrick's first two pro seasons.
McIlveen, 24, is making a return to North American pro hockey. He spent last season in Germany splitting time between the second-tier Bundesliga's Freiburg EHC and the German Elite League's Wolfsburg Grizzly Adams. In 44 combined games the 5-11, 180-pound winger had 21 points (14G, 7A) and 36 penalty minutes. His best season as a pro was 2008-09 which was split between the South Carolina Stingrays (eight games) and the Elmira Jackals (56 games). Overall he produced 55 points (22G, 33A) and finished third on the Jackals with 51 points (21G, 30A). His play in the ECHL earned McIlveen two separate call-ups to the American Hockey League where he spent one game with Norfolk and two games with Binghamton.
