Greenville Drive News Release

Greenville, SC - The Drive (10-10) offense returned to a form not seen since their first homestand of the 2011 season on Wednesday night, belting three homers en route to a 7-4 victory over the Greensboro Grasshoppers (12-8) at Fluor Field. Greenville scored more runs in tonight's contest than they had in their previous two losses to the Grasshoppers combined.

After two innings of play Greensboro held onto a one-run lead following solo homers by Isaac Galloway and Brian McConkey. A wild pitch accounted for the Drive's first run, before they answered with six unanswered runs.

Miles Head's solo shot in the bottom of the third tied the game, before the Drive pounced on reliever Adam Veres (0-1) for four runs two innings later. The Grasshopper reliever only hurt himself, plunking Christian Vazquez - the first batter he faced - before Bryce Brentz hit a towering two-run shot to right-centerfield.

Sean Coyle, who finished 2-for-4, continued his turnaround at the plate as he crushed a two-run homer over the Green Monster. Head scored on the play, having doubled three batters earlier.

The Drive scored their final run in the bottom of the sixth as Felix Sanchez led off with a double and eventually scored on Vazquez's sacrifice fly.

Miguel Celestino (1-1) earned his first victory in a Drive uniform, allowing a pair of runs on four hits and two walks, while also striking out two. Juan Rodriguez tossed 2.0 no-hit innings out of the bullpen, striking out three batters, before the Grasshoppers added their final two runs in the top of the ninth off Tyler Lockwood.

The Drive and Grasshoppers continue their five-game series tomorrow evening at Fluor Field, with first pitch set for 7:05 PM. Southpaw Manuel Rivera (2-1, 2.25 ERA) will toe the slab for Greenville as they look to even the series, while Greensboro counters with right-hander Zach Neal (1-1, 2.45 ERA).

Thursday is Dollar Drink Night at Fluor Field, in which fans of all ages can purchase 12-ounce Pepsi products at any of the concession stands for just $1. Those fans at least 21-years-of-age can head over to The 500 Club for draft specials.
