Drive Sending League-High Eight Players to SAL All-Star Game

Greenville, SC - When the 56th Annual South Atlantic League All-Star Game takes place in Asheville, North Carolina on Tuesday, June 23rd, the Greenville Drive are going to be well-represented. The league announced its All-Star representatives on Tuesday, and the Drive will be sending a league-high eight players to Asheville to represent the Southern Division.

Receiving starting nods for the Southern Division were catcher Jordan Procyshen, third baseman Rafael Devers, shortstop Javier Guerra and outfielder Derek Miller. Ben Moore was selected as a backup catcher and Mauricio Dubon was named a utility infielder, while Mario Alcantara and Michael Kopech were named to the pitching staff.

"To have eight players named to this year's All-Star game is an incredible honor both to each individual, as well as to our team as a whole," said Drive Manager Darren Fenster. "From the start of spring training back in February, we have stressed the importance of all of the work that goes on before the game, and the success these guys have each enjoyed thus far and their recognition as All-Stars is a testament to the hard work and dedication they have shown to improve themselves as players every day they come to the ballpark."

Procyshen was voted as the starting catcher after posting a .281 average with a homer, 21 RBI and a .363 on-base percentage in 39 games entering Tuesday.

The 18-year old Devers is third in the league with a .321 batting average to go along with 60 hits, three homers and 26 RBI in 47 games.

Guerra has combined sparkling defense at shortstop with a .294 average in 45 games with a team-high five homers, 23 RBI and a .494 slugging percentage.

Miller has been a catalyst near the top of the Drive lineup, hitting .293 with nine stolen bases in 50 games and leading the team with 29 RBI and a .388 on-base percentage.

Moore is the second half of the Drive's catching tandem and is hitting .319 in 24 games with a .356 on-base percentage.

Dubon has split time between second base and shortstop and leads the Drive with 15 stolen bases while posting a .294 average with four homers and 26 RBI.

In 16 appearances out of the bullpen in 2015, Alcantara has recorded three saves to go along with a 2-0 record and a 1.53 ERA with 27 strikeouts in 29 1/3 innings pitched.

Kopech was named the South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 20th-26th, and he has posted a 3.11 ERA with a 2-4 record in 10 starts this season to go along with 44 strikeouts in 37 2/3 innings.
