Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
LEXINGTON, KY - Josh Taylor threw seven scoreless innings and the BlueClaws hit a pair of home runs in topping Lexington 3-2 on Tuesday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
Herlis Rodriguez and Rhys Hoskins homered for the BlueClaws, who improved to 28-27. They have won four straight in Lexington since last year. The Legends fell to 25-33 on the season.
For Taylor, who improved to 3-4, it was the third time this year he's finished seven innings in a start.
The BlueClaws took the lead on a solo home run in the 3rd inning off Zach Lovvurn by Herlis Rodriguez, his 3rd home run of the season. The BlueClaws extended their lead to 3-0 on the two-run home run by Rhys Hoskins, his 7th of the season, in the 6th inning.
The BlueClaws had hit just two home runs since May 12th before their two home runs in this game.
Lexington's Chase Vallot launched a home run against Alexis Rivero on Rivero's first pitch to bring Lexington within 3-1 in the 8th inning. Ryan O'Hearn took Rivero deep in the 9th inning to make it 3-2 but Rivero struck out Elier Hernandez to end the game.
Rivero earned his 6th save of the year, though he allowed his first two runs since May 12th.
Carlos Tocci added two hits for the BlueClaws, his 21st multi-hit game of the season.
The series continues with a 1:35 pm game on Wednesday. RHP Tyler Viza (4-1) starts for Lakewood against LHP Foster Griffin (0-1).
