SALISBURY, Md. -- The Delmarva Shorebirds stumbled against the Greenville Drive on Saturday night, falling by a final score of 10-5. After an early 2-0 lead, the Shorebirds surrendered seven unanswered runs to turn the tide and even the series at one game apiece.

The top of the order sparked a hot start for Delmarva in the first inning. Ademar Rifaela and Steve Wilkerson both singled to begin the rally, scoring on a passed ball and a sacrifice fly by Yermin Mercedes.

Dennis Torres made his first start with Delmarva this year, having last pitched in June for the Double-A Bowie Baysox. Greenville scored two runs in the second for a quick answer, tying the game at 2-2. Four consecutive hits led to three more runs in the third inning, pushing the Drive on top. Greenville scored two more in the fourth with a sacrifice fly by Michael Chavis and an RBI double from Rafael Devers.

Delmarva tightened the score with an RBI single in the fifth by Jomar Reyes. But the Drive lengthened their lead again with three more in the seventh off Williams Louico. Greenville racked up ten runs on 16 hits, tying the most hits by a Shorebirds' opponent in a single game this season.

Logan Uxa hit a two-run home run in the eighth for Delmarva, his fifth of the season. The Greenville advantage was too much to overcome, ending in a 10-5 final. Torres and Louico each allowed five runs, while Ivan Hernandez finished the game with 2.2 scoreless frames. Dedgar Jimenez received the win for Greenville with a quality start.

The Shorebirds will try to wrestle away control of the series in game three on Saturday evening. Right-hander Dariel Delgado (5-3, 3.51) will start for Delmarva opposite Greenville lefty Jalen Beeks (9-4, 3.85). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.
