San Antonio Missions News Release
San Antonio was held to just six hits in its 6-2 loss to Tulsa Sunday evening at Wolff Stadium.
The Drillers got on the board first Sunday, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when Jarek Cunningham scored from third on a Casey Kelly balk. Two innings later, Tulsa doubled its lead on Brandon Trinkwon's run-producing groundout.
San Antonio got one back off starter Jeremy Kehrt in its half of the fourth courtesy of a Hunter Renfroe sacrifice fly to left. After Kelly put up a zero in the top of the fifth, the Missions tied the game at two in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single by catcher Adolfo Reina.
The game did not stay tied for long, though, as Tulsa plated three runs off Kelly's replacement, Kyle McGrath in the top of the sixth. McGrath, who arrived earlier in the day from Class A Fort Wayne, allowed a fourth run in the seventh when Cunningham gave the Drillers a 6-2 lead with a double.
The six runs were more than enough for the Drillers' pitching staff. Kehrt (5-6) allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits in his five innings. Relievers Jorge De Leon and Ramon Benjamin each tossed a pair of scoreless innings to complete the Tulsa victory.
San Antonio (7-10, 38-49) wraps up its four-game series against Tulsa (9-8, 39-47) Monday with a special 11:05 AM first pitch. James Needy (1-0, 0.00) will take the hill for the Missions, while the Drillers counter with fellow righty Jharel Cotton (3-0, 1.44).
Notes: Luis Domoromo (0-for-4) saw the end of his 11-game hit streak. Taylor Lindsey (2-for-4, run scored) and Reina (2-for-3) each had multi-hit games for San Antonio.
