The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) host the West Michigan Whitecaps (affiliate of the Detroit Tigers) in the second game of a four game series. Season Series: West Michigan 3, Dayton 2.

Dayton on this Home Stand: 3-2

Comparisons: With a win tonight, the Dragons would match their first half record of 2008 of 28-40 (note that two games were canceled due to rain in the first half in 2008). The Dragons went 38-32 in the second half in 2008 and advanced to the MWL playoff semi-finals.

About West Michigan: The Whitecaps trail Fort Wayne by two games with three to play in the East Division first half race. However, they have clinched a playoff berth...The Whitecaps are 20-12 on the road...They are 10-8 in the month of June.

Last Game: Miguel Rojas drilled a game-winning home run leading off the bottom of the ninth inning as the Dragons defeated the Whitecaps 5-4 in the first game of the series. The Dragons stole a season-high six bases in the game including four in the fifth inning when Kevyn Feiner stole home on the back end of a double steal. Carlos Mendez hit a two-run home run in the first for Dayton. He led a 10-hit attack with two hits.

Today's Dayton Starting Pitcher: Josh Ravin makes his 13th start of the season tonight. Ravin has allowed two runs or less in five of his last six starts, posting an ERA of 2.36 ERA over those six starts. In his last start last Sunday vs. Lansing, Ravin earned the win (6.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 8 SO). Ravin was the Reds fifth round draft pick in the 2006 draft out of national power Chatsworth High School. Ravin made 14 starts for the Dragons in 2008, going 2-8, 7.15. In three previous seasons of professional baseball, Ravin went 3-15, 7.03. He allowed only 143 hits in 145 innings but walked 123. Ravin is 21 years old and a native of Tarzana, California.
