MIDLAND, Mich. - Kyle Russell went 3-for-3 with his league-leading 17th home run and Nick Buss finished a double short of the cycle, as the Great Lakes Loons (39-29) cruised to a 10-1 victory over the Lansing Lugnuts (25-42) on Friday night at Dow Diamond.

The Loons tallied five times in the first inning against Lugnuts starter Chad Beck, including a Buss three-run triple, en route to a franchise-high ninth consecutive win.

Beck (0-3) allowed eight runs on nine hits over his four innings to suffer the loss.

Great Lakes starter Geison Aguasviva (3-0) earned the victory with five shutout frames, scattering three singles.

Jon Talley doubled home Mark Sobolewski with two outs in the ninth inning to prevent the shutout.

Lansing has been outscored 16-2 in losing the first two games of the four-game series, the final series of the first half.

The Lugnuts and Loons play the third game in their four-game series on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Lansing right-hander Jonas Cuotto (1-4, 5.53) starts against Great Lakes right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (1-4, 4.66).
