Whitecaps Offering Holiday "Staycation" Special

COMSTOCK PARK - If you are wondering what to do on Fourth of July weekend, the Whitecaps have a solution. The Whitecaps are offering a special one-day-only deal on reserved seats for their July 4, 5 and 6 home games against the Dayton Dragons.

Reserved seats, normally $9.50, will be sold for only $5. They will be on sale for one day only on Tuesday, June 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tickets will be available for purchase at the West Michigan Glass Block ticket office at Fifth Third Ballpark, online at www.whitecapsbaseball.com or by calling the Whitecaps front office at 616-784-4131.

"We recognize that these are difficult economic times and people are staying closer to home on the holidays," said Whitecaps CEO Lew Chamberlin. "We wanted to make it a little bit easier for our fans to spend their 'staycation' with the Whitecaps."

There will be something going on for everybody on Fourth of July weekend. On July 4, the Zooperstars! come to town to entertain the crowd. The Zooperstars! were featured on America's Got Talent and have become one of the most popular entertainment acts in sports. Also, a Farm Bureau Insurance fireworks show will follow the game. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Sunday, July 5 is a Helen DeVos Children's Hospital Family Day. The first 1,000 kids eat free. Fans are also welcome to play catch on the field and get autographs from the team. Also, children can run the bases after the game, courtesy of Lake Michigan Credit Union. First pitch is at 2:00 p.m.

On Monday, July 6, the first 1,500 fans will receive Gerald R. Ford Museum baseballs. First Pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and gates will open at 6:00 p.m.

The Whitecaps kick off the second half of the season June 25 at home against the Great Lakes Loons at 7:00 p.m.
