Today's Game: The Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) host the Loons (affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers) in the first game of a three-game set. Season Series: Dayton 4, Great Lakes 3. Dayton is 2-1 vs. Great Lakes at Fifth Third Field.

Streaks: Dayton: Lost 2 (lost six of last seven). Great Lakes: Lost 1 (16-8 over last 24 games).

Last Game: Fort Wayne defeated Dayton 6-5 in the rubber match of the three-game set. Both Fort Wayne wins in the series came by one run while Dayton's lone victory was a 15-10 contest. The TinCaps built a 5-0 lead over the first five innings and held off a Dragons ninth inning rally. Dayton scored two runs in the ninth to pull to within a run at 6-5 and had runners at second and third with one out, but Fort Wayne closer Nick Schumacher pitched out of trouble for the save. Dayton's Cameron Satterwhite saw his 15-game hitting streak come to an end, losing a hit in the ninth inning on a fielder's choice play on a ball that fell in front of the center fielder. Tim Crabbe took the loss and saw his scoreless streak end at 19.2 consecutive innings. Tommy Nurre hit the only home run for Dayton, a solo shot in the sixth. Josh Garton had two hits including a triple.

Today's Starting Pitcher: J.C. Sulbaran will make his 13th start of the season tonight. His last start was Saturday at Lansing and he suffered the loss (5.2 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 5 SO). Sulbaran is a 20-year-old native of Willemstad, Curacao. He spent the entire 2009 season with the Dragons, going 5-5 with a 5.24 ERA. Sulbaran is rated as 25th best prospect in Reds organization by Baseball America. He pitched for Team Netherlands in 2009 World Baseball Classic, striking out former all-star catcher Ivan Rodriguez on three pitches. He also pitched for the Netherlands in the Olympics in Beijing in 2008. He is one of three players from his high school team to be drafted in 2008. Sulbaran moved with family to Plantation, Florida during his high school career and was the Miami-area pitcher of the year in 2008 as he helped American Heritage High School to state championship, going 11-0 with a 1.40 earned run average. Sulbaran had signed a National Letter of Intent to play at the University of Florida before signing with Reds.

Individual Notes

* Cameron Satterwhite saw his 15-game hitting streak end last night with a 0 for 4 game that ended with an unusual fielder's choice play in which the left fielder threw out the lead runner at second base on a force play. The 15-gamer is tied for the second longest in the league this season, one behind Cedar Rapids' Mike Trout (April 24-May 11), and tied for the third longest in Dragons history, trailing Carlos Mendez (20 games, 2009), and Cody Strait (19 games, 2005) and tied with Adam Rosales (15 games, 2005). Over Satterwhite's last 16 games, he is batting .406. He hit .374 for the month of June to rank second in the Midwest League. He led the league in June slugging percentage at .626 and total bases with 57 while tying for the league lead in extra base hits with 15. He tied for second in doubles with 11.

* Henry Rodriguez has hit in five straight games and 12 of his last 13. He is batting .344 over his last 23 games with 10 doubles, two triples, and a home run. Rodriguez is hitting .370 in the second half to lead the team.

* Ryan LaMarre is batting .310 over his last 11 games. His 9-game hitting streak was snapped Tuesday night. He had one hit last night.

* Chris Richburg is batting .310 over his last 11 games. He hit five home runs in June to lead the team and tie for second in the league. He had 18 RBI in June to tie for fourth in the league, only two off the league lead.

* The Dragons roster includes two players who are ranked among the Reds top 30 prospects by Baseball America. They are shortstop Didi Gregorius (#15) and pitcher J.C. Sulbaran (#25).

Team Notes

* Dayton batted .279 in June to rank first in the Eastern Division and third in the league.

* In all 38 Dragons home games this season. The team that led at the end of the seventh inning won the game. In the four cases where the game was tied at the end of the seventh, Dayton won all four games.
