Travis Wood Becomes 44th Dragons Player in Majors

Dayton, Ohio-Travis Wood, a key member of the 2006 Dayton Dragons, made his Major League debut today with the Cincinnati Reds, becoming the 44th former Dragons player to play in the big leagues. Wood started today's game against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Wood made 27 starts for the 2006 Dragons, posting a record of 10-5 with a 3.66 earned run average. He is tied for the Dragons all-time single-season record for games started in a season by a pitcher.

Other former Dragons to reach the Major Leagues this season include pitchers Logan Ondrusek, Enerio Del Rosario, and Jordan Smith and outfielder Chris Heisey (all with the Reds).

There are 12 current members of the Reds who played for the Dragons. They include Wood, Ondrusek, Smith, Heisey, along with pitchers Homer Bailey, and Johnny Cueto; catcher Ryan Hanigan; infielders Paul Janish and Joey Votto; and outfielders Jay Bruce, Chris Dickerson, and Drew Stubbs. Bailey, Hanigan, and Dickerson are on the disabled list.
