BELOIT, Wis. - The River Bandits took the opener of the three-game set with the Beloit Snapper 5-1 at Pohlman Field on Thursday night. The Bandits trailed 1-0 when Freddy Parejo homered with a man on in the sixth inning to give Quad Cities all they would need.

Parejo's home run, his third of the year, was part of a two-hit, three RBI game for the Bandit outfielder. Matt Adams and Ryan Jackson provided the other two RBI for the game. C.J. Beatty also contributed two hits in the winning effort.

Jorge Rondon (3-4) earned the win by going six innings and allowing just the one run on six hits. He walked two and struck out three. B.J. Hermsen (4-3) took the loss allowing all five Bandit runs on nine hits over 7.2 innings. He didn't issue any walks and struck out five in the losing effort.

The Bandits and the Snappers continue the series tomorrow night. Right-hander Shelby Miller will start for the River Bandits against Beloit lefty Edgar Ibarra. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. at Pohlman Field in Beloit.
