All-Star Catcher Myers Punches Ticket to Wilmington

Burlington, IA (July 1, 2010) - Just a year out of high school, Wil Myers wasted no time placing himself among the Midwest League's elite hitters. On Thursday, he received a new challenge: an assignment to High-A.

Myers was promoted to Wilmington after leading the Bees in virtually every major offensive category, including batting average (.289), home runs (10), doubles (19), RBI (45), total bases (121), walks (48), on-base percentage (.408), and slugging percentage (.500). Myers was a third round selection of the Royals in last June's draft, and was named the top prospect in the Pioneer League for his work with Idaho Falls last summer.

In June, Myers was the starting catcher for the Western Division at the Midwest League All-Star Game in Fort Wayne. He drew a walk in the game and participated in the catchers' throwing accuracy competition as well.

Joining the Bees in his place is Drew Robertson, a catcher from Middle Tennessee State University. Drew was selected in the 46th round of this year's draft. He made his professional debut with the Burlington Royals, batting .222 (2-for-9) in three games with an RBI and a run scored.
