Dragons Announce July Players of the Month

DAYTON, OHIO - The Dayton Dragons today announced the team's Batter and Pitcher of the Month award winners for the month of July following the conclusion of fan voting at daytondragons.com.

The Dragons Batter of the Month is Seth Mejias-Brean. In July, he batted .392 with seven doubles, two triples, six home runs, 25 runs batted in, 17 runs scored, a slugging percentage of .676, and an on-base percentage of .475. Mejias-Brean is a product of the University of Arizona. Other nominees for Batter of the Month were Beau Amaral and Joe Hudson.

The Dragons Pitcher of the Month is Joel Bender. He posted a record during July of 4-0 with a 3.38 earned run average in 10 relief appearances. Bender is a native of Cincinnati and played at Oak Hills High School. Other nominees for Pitcher of the Month were Wandy Peralta and Drew Cisco.

The winning players will be honored during an inning break of the Dragons game tonight at Fifth Third Field vs. Lake County. There will also be a Player of the Month luncheon tomorrow (Friday, August 9th) at McDonalds, 1517 N. Keowee (between Leo and Stanley) at 12:00 noon. Fans may attend to ask questions to the winning players and receive autographs.
