June 16, 2010 - Eastern League (EL1)
New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Manchester, NH - Kyle Drabek held the Akron Aeros to one earned run over 6.1 innings to reclaim the Eastern League lead in innings pitched (84) and move into a tie for the league lead in strikeouts (67), but three unearned runs in the seventh inning propelled the Aeros to a 4-1 victory over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Wednesday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.
New Hampshire (40-26) built a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth against Eric Berger when Manny Mayorson (2-for-4, 2B, R) led off with a double and scored on an RBI single by Shawn Bowman (1-for-4, RBI).
Akron (33-32) immediately tied the game, 1-1, in the top of the fifth against Drabek. Jerad Head (1-for-4, R) led off with a single, advanced to second on a groundout, and scored when Tim Fedroff (1-for-3, BB, RBI, R) lined a single to left.
The Aeros went ahead to stay in the top of the seventh when Mayorson's throwing error allowed Miguel Perez, who singled, to score the go-ahead run. With two outs and the bases loaded, Matt McBride (1-for-3, BB, 2 RBI) delivered a two-run single off Trystan Magnuson for a 4-1 lead.
All three unearned runs went against Drabek (7-6), who lost to the Aeros for the second straight outing, yielding four runs -one earned- on five hits in 6.1 innings, with three strikeouts and four walks.
Chen-Chang Lee (4-3) notched the win with two scoreless one-hit innings, including a pair of strikeouts.
Bryce Stall fanned four over his two innings of work to maintain his 0.00 ERA and record his fifth save in five chances.
The Fisher Cats and the Aeros conclude their season series on Thursday night at 7:05pm with New Hampshire right-hander Ronald Uviedo (1-2, 3.06) slated to pitch against Akron left-hander Kelvin De La Cruz (1-3, 5.35). Fisher Cats Pre-Game starts at 6:45pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Mike Murphy.
Thursday night is NHHEAF Honor Roll Night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium, and an Atlas Fireworks Show follows the game.
