
Rock Cats Recall Joe Benson

New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats of the Eastern League made a roster move today, recalling promising 22-year-old OF prospect Joe Benson from Ft. Myers in the Single-A, Florida State League.
A 2nd Round pick of the Minnesota Twins in the 2006 Draft, the 6'1"/215-pound Benson began the 2010 Season in New Britain. The Minooka, IL resident appeared in 33 games for the Rock Cats and batted .219 with 5 HRs and 9 RBI before his May 17th reassignment to Ft. Myers. Ranked by Baseball America as the 13th best Prospect in the entire Minnesota system, Benson regained his offensive prowess in Florida. In just 21 games for the 2010 Miracle, the right-handed hitter swatted 11 Doubles, 1 Triple and 4 Home Runs while knocking in 13 with a .294 BA.
He will rejoin New Britain today in time for the Rock Cats' 5:05 PM scheduled Doubleheader at home against visiting Harrisburg.
