BOISE, Idaho – Scott Burt scored his second goal of the night to snap a 4-4 tie as Idaho outlasted Alaska 7-4 before a regular season record crowd of 5,431 Saturday at the Bank of America Centre.

The Aces opened the game's scoring when Wes Dorey, released by Idaho during the fall of 2002, banked a wraparound off the back of Steelheads goaltender Blair Allison's skate at the 8:41 mark of the first period. Dylan Gyori flicked in a rebound with 3:50 left in the frame for a 1-1 tie.

Dorey scored just 1:27 into the second period to regain the lead for Alaska at 2-1, but Idaho took command with three unanswered goals in the final seven minutes of the frame. Burt tallied the first of his two at 13:04, and the Steelheads broke the 2-2 tie with two goals in nine seconds. David Bararuk cleaned up another rebound at 17:32 and Brett Draney followed with a wrist shot from a tough angle that slipped past Alaska netminder Dan Murphy blocker side.

Trailing 4-2, the Aces battled back, killing off a two-man advantage for Idaho and climbing back into the game when Dorey completed his hat trick just 2:16 of the third period after a perfect centering pass from Mike Lee. Ex-oil rigger Mike Victor scored the equalizer at 4:54, and suddenly, Alaska had tied the game against a club that was 25-0 when leading after two periods. But just 28 seconds later, Burt registered the eventual game-winner, and after several tremendous saves by Allison kept the score 5-4, Draney's one-timer with 7:19 left in the game sealed the victory. Ben Keup pushed the final margin to 7-4 at the 15:52 mark, giving Idaho a split of the season series (5-5).

The Aces will play their next five games at home, then their final 11 on the road. Alaska (30-22-4) has won just eight of its last 21 games to fall nine points behind the third-place Steelheads (33-16-7) going into its Tuesday and Wednesday night tilts at Sullivan Arena against Bakersfield at 7:00 p.m. Both contests will be broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM and at www.alaskaaces.com, with Jack Michaels calling the play-by-play. Coverage begins 20 minutes prior to the opening face-off, presented by GCI.
