Dayton Bombers News Release

Carl Mallette scored two goals 16 seconds apart late in the third period to help the Roanoke Express rally to beat the Dayton Bombers 2-1 at the Roanoke Civic Center Saturday night.

Jason Deskins tallied his second goal in as many games for the Bombers. Deskins' goal came right after the Bombers had killed an Express power play in the first period. Deskins received a pass from Olivier Proulx, then muscled the puck past goalie David Belitski for the score, his 19th of the season.

The 1-0 Bombers' lead held up until 17:03 of the third when Mallette deflected Duncan Dalmao's power play blueline shot into the net, then tallied 16 seconds later on a flip shot over goalie Andrew Penner.

Penner made 37 saves for the Bombers in his team-high eighth straight start.

The Bombers play at Roanoke today (4 p.m.). They will return home Sunday, March 7 vs. Toledo (4:00 p.m.) for Bucky's Birthday Bash.
