Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

LINCOLN, NE - The Lincoln Saltdogs lost manager Marty Scott's Haymarket Park debut on Friday, falling 11-3 to the Fort Worth Cats. Lincoln drops to 3-5 on the season.

Fort Worth scored six runs in the first three innings, due mainly to the wildness of Lincoln starter Jonathan Figueroa (0-2). Figueroa gave up two runs on two hits and two walks in the first inning, and then walked the first four batters of the second inning before he was lifted for a relief pitcher. Double plays in each inning mitigated some of the damage, but a two-run homer by the Cats' Michael Bell in the third inning put the game out of reach. Fort Worth piled on four more runs in the fifth and added a final tally in the seventh.

The Saltdogs didn't get on the board until the fourth inning, when Josh Burrus scored on an RBI grounder by Steve Alexander. Burrus added a two-run single in the fifth, his first two RBI of the season, but Fort Worth starter Dan Grybash (2-0) kept the Saltdogs offense off-balance through his six innings of work.

Burrus finished 3-for-4, and has five hits over his past two games. Phil Hawke also had a multi-hit night, going 2-for-4. For Fort Worth, Bell went 2-for-4 with five RBI.

The teams play game two of their three-game series Saturday night at 7:05pm. Righty Jim Paduch is expected to make the start for Lincoln.

The Lincoln Saltdog' current homestand runs through May 27.. For more team and ticket information, go to www.saltdogs.com.
