Dodgers Pick Up Third Straight Win

Oklahoma City - A seven-run third inning pushed the Oklahoma City Dodgers into the lead on the way to a 9-8 win Saturday night against the San Antonio Missions at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Jake Peter smashed a grand slam into the upper deck in right field in the third inning and Connor Joe homered earlier in the frame as the Dodgers put together their sixth straight multi-homer game.

With the win, the Dodgers took a 2-0 lead in their series against San Antonio and picked up a third straight win overall.

The Dodgers (45-54) took the field as Cielo Azul de Oklahoma City against the Flying Chanclas de San Antonio as part of MiLB's Copa de la Diversión during the second ¡Celebración Cielo Azul! of the season.

San Antonio jumped out to a 4-0 lead Saturday.

Travis Shaw hit a solo homer out to right field with two outs in the first inning to put San Antonio in front, 1-0. Hernán Pérez led off the second inning with a single for San Antonio and scored on a RBI triple into left field by Nate Orf. Troy Stokes Jr. later added a sacrifice fly for a 3-0 San Antonio advantage. Mauricio Dubon doubled with one out in the third inning, then scored on a RBI single by Shaw for a 4-0 San Antonio lead.

The Dodgers then scored seven runs in the bottom of the third inning for their first runs of the night to take the lead.

Gavin Lux drew a one-out walk before Joe came to the plate and drilled a two-run homer into the Dodgers' bullpen in left-center field to cut San Antonio's lead to 4-2. The home run was Joe's 12th of the season and second in three games.

With two outs in the inning, DJ Peters was hit by a pitch then scored on a RBI triple by Kyle Garlick to cut San Antonio's advantage to 4-3.

The Dodgers later took the lead on one swing. Oklahoma City loaded the bases for Peter who hit a grand slam into the upper deck down the right-field line to push Oklahoma City to a 7-4 advantage.

The grand slam was OKC's third of the season and second of the week as the Dodgers have homered in a season-best 13 consecutive games, racking up 33 homers during the stretch.

Trent Grisham added a RBI single for San Antonio in the fourth inning to cut OKC's lead to 7-5.

In the fifth inning, Garlick hammered a fly ball to left-center field for a home run that landed past the Dodgers' bullpen for an 8-5 Dodgers lead. The homer was his fifth in three games for Oklahoma City and 17th of the season with the Dodgers, as the team finished the night with three homers.

The Dodgers brought home another run later in the inning. Peter grounded out and Zach Reks scored on an ensuing throw for a 9-5 Oklahoma City lead.

The Missions (62-38) then hit scored three unanswered runs to close out the game and creep closer to the Dodgers on the scoreboard.

Shaw hit a solo homer out to right field - his second homer of the night - to cut the Dodgers' lead to 9-6 to lead off the seventh inning.

In the top of the ninth inning, David Freitas drew a two-out walk before Blake Allemand hit a two-run homer out to left field to trim the Dodgers' lead to one run.

Dodgers pitcher Luis Vasquez (1-0) picked up the win, pitching a scoreless two-thirds of the third inning, allowing one hit and one walk with two strikeouts.

Pitcher Kevin Quackenbush allowed the two-run homer in the ninth inning and picked up his eighth saves of the season.

San Antonio starting pitcher Bubba Derby (4-6) was charged with the loss, allowing nine runs and seven hits over 4.0 innings with four walks. He did not record a strikeout and recorded three homers.

The brief three-game series between the teams wraps up with a 6:05 p.m. game on a Chaparral Energy Family Sunday filled with family-friendly activities, such as pregame player autographs and postgame kids run the bases.
