Everett Silvertips News Release

SPOKANE, Wash. - Graham Millar scored the game-winning goal, added an assist and goaltender Mario Petit registered 22 saves to lift a shorthanded set of Everett Silvertips to a 3-2 victory over the Spokane Chiefs before 4,860 fans at Spokane Arena on Sunday.

Ending a stretch of three games in three days, the Silvertips had one skater shy of a full lineup, yet never trailed in the game and improved to 6-2-0-0 against Spokane this season. Noah Juulsen scored a first period goal and Brycen Martin added a power play marker.

The Silvertips maintained their five point lead for first place in the U.S. Division, improving to 16-9-1-0 against division foes.

Juulsen cruised nearly coast-to-coast for a 1-0 lead just 2:45 into the game, skating through the right wing and sneaking a sharp-angled shot off Tyson Verhelst's pad from the bottom of the right circle.

Dominic Zwerger tied the game with his 23rd goal, 6:08 into the first period on a wraparound at the right post.

Following a Matt Sozanski tripping penalty, delicate puck movement set up Martin's power play strike, 10:47 into the second period for a 2-1 lead. Patrick Bajkov and Millar worked a ricochet over to Martin, stationed at the top, who wired a wrister through traffic that beat Verhelst low to the glove side.

Millar then slammed a rebound past Verhelst, on the doorstep, after Tristen Pfeifer wired a shot through traffic for a 3-1 advantage at 7:51 of the third period. Spokane pushed once more with an extra attacker goal by Markson Bechtold, following up his own rebound with 1:11 left in regulation, but the Silvertips preserved the victory by keeping the puck away from the middle of the ice.

Verhelst took the loss on 22 saves.
