KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (June 18, 2015)- The Kannapolis Intimidators scored 13 runs on 13 hits to beat the Hagerstown Suns, 13-5, Thursday at Intimidators Stadium supported by Carolinas HealthCare System. Thad Lowry (8-2) earned his fourth straight win, tying an I's season high, by working 6.0 innings, allowing two runs on six hits while walking one and striking out two.

Ryan Leonards helped lead the way as well going 4-for-5, with three singles, a double, RBI and three runs scored.

The Intimidators (33-32) jumped on the board in the first inning, plating three runs to take a 3-0 lead. After Eddy Alvarez reached on a single and Hunter Jones on a walk, Nick Delmonico doubled to right field, scoring Alvarez. During the next at-bat Hagerstown' starter Joan Baez balked, scoring Jones and advancing Delmonico to third. During the same at-bat, Baez threw a wild pitch scoring Delmonico.

Kannapolis broke the game wide open in the second inning, scoring five runs to make it 8-0. The I's began the inning by loading bases on two singles and a walk. With the bases loaded Baez hit Jones, scoring Ryan Leonards from third. The next at-bat, Baez again threw a wild pitch, scoring Ziznewski. With runners on second and third, Delmonico singled to right field, plating two more runs and ending Baez's night. Two-batters later Mason Robbins knocked home Delmonico on a single to right field.

Baez (0-1) was charged with the loss, working just 1.0 inning, allowing eight runs on five hits and three walks.

In the third inning, Hagerstown finally scored their first run off Lowry. After Osvaldo Abreu tripled to left field, pinch-hitter Matt Reistetter singled to right-field, scoring Abreu.

The Intimidators pushed their lead back up to eight in the bottom of the fourth, 9-1. Alexander Simon reached second on a throwing error by Abreu. Following a fielder choice Simon scored from third on a Leonards single.

In the fifth, Kannapolis plated another run, taking a 10-1 on a Delmonico RBI triple.

After a Suns' run in the sixth inning, Kannapolis added two more in the bottom of the sixth, extending the lead to 12-2.

The Sun's best comeback attempt came in the top of the seventh when Hagerstown scored three runs of reliever Jacob Morris, but any miracles were denied when Connor Walsh retired eight straight to end the game.

K-town added one more in the eighth, to secure the 13-5 win.

Connor Walsh worked a perfect 2 and 2/3 innings of relief, striking four.

Connor Bach who came in for Baez in the second, worked 4.0 innings. Allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits, while walking two and striking out four.

The Intimidators will head onto the road for a 3-game series starting Friday against the Greensboro Grasshoppers before the club is off for the All-Star break from June 22-24. Eddy Alvarez and Brett Austin will represent the I's in Asheville for the annual South Atlantic League mid-summer classic. Kannapolis will begin the second half of the season at Intimidators Stadium presented by Carolinas HealthCare System on Thursday June 25, against the Asheville Tourists.
