Sioux Falls Canaries News Release

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - An off night defensively from the Sioux Falls Canaries powered the Gary SouthShore RailCats to a 6-3 Win on Thursday night at Sioux Falls Stadium.

The Birds committed four errors in the contest, their second-highest total of the season.

Gary SouthShore scored six unanswered runs to take control of the game, starting with two in the first inning. The first scored on a wild pitch, the second scored on a sacrifice fly from D. K. Carey.

The RailCats plated three more runs, all unearned, in the fourth. The inning started with an error from Birds shortstop Jordan Dean, and included RBIs from K. C. Huth, Cole Fabio and Ronnie Mitchell.

Carey added another run in the fifth on a solo home run, his third of the season. That made it 6-0 RailCats.

The Birds responded with their first run in the bottom of the fifth, when Mike Hart scored from second on a dropped pop fly by RailCats first baseman Andy Paz.

Birds starter Miles Nordgren threw six innings, allowing six runs (three earned) on eight hits, with two walks and five strikeouts.

The Canaries cut the lead to three in the seventh. David Bergin made it 6-2 with an RBI double, and Jabari Henry drove in Mitch Glasser to make it 6-3.

Jack Fowler worked two scoreless innings to earn his first save of the year.
