Golson Piles up Three Hits in 4-0 Loss vs. X's

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - The Texas AirHogs fell once again in Sioux City Thursday evening, dropping the second of the three-game set to the Explorers 4-0. Greg Golson finished with three hits. The teams close the series tomorrow at 7:05.

Sean Stutzman (0-5) got the start for the AirHogs and allowed four runs over the game's first three innings. He buckled down to post three straight scoreless frames before giving way to Su Guangyao and Austin Orvis out of the bullpen. AirHog arms finished the game with six straight scoreless frames.

Golson led the way for the Texas attack, racking up a double and two singles. Texas left a man on third in three different innings and stranded a total of eight in the game. Stewart Ijames, Javion Randle, and Cao Jie accounted for the other three Texas hits.

Sioux City starter James Dykstra (9-4) earned the win with seven scoreless innings. Ryan Horstman and Ryan Flores completed the second straight shutout for the X's staff.

Nate Samson picked up three hits to lead the way for Sioux City. He now stands at 138 hits for the year, a franchise record. Samson previously established the single-season franchise record with 137 in 2016.

Texas (25-71) and Sioux City (69-27) complete the three-game set Friday at 7:05. RHP Miguel Rosario (2-11, 5.38 ERA) is expected to start for the AirHogs. LHP Ian McKinney (2-2, 3.08 ERA) is expected to start for the X's. A live stream of the game will be available at mixlr.com/TXAirHogs.
