
AirHogs Shutout in Sioux City Opener

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - The Texas AirHogs dropped their opener in Sioux City 14-0 Wednesday night. The AirHogs and Sioux City Explorers continue the series Thursday at 7:05.
Texas managed just two hits vs. Sioux City starter Jason Garcia (3-0). The MLB alum went the full nine on the mound for the X's, twirling the first shutout of his Sioux City career. Lu Chenjie and Liang Pei each picked up a base hit for the AirHogs, who also hit into three double plays.
Sioux City got to Texas starter Zhang Haonan (0-4) for five runs over the first four innings to open an early advantage they would not relinquish. The X's put the game out of reach with nine runs in the seventh vs. relievers Liu Guoqing and Su Guangyao.
The Explorers were led by Nate Samson, who finished with five hits, three runs scored and three RBIs. Luis Durango scored three times on two hits and three walks. He also recorded an RBI. Dean Green and Blake Schmit each racked up three RBIs.
Texas (25-70) and Sioux City (68-27) continue the three-game set Thursday at 7:05. LHP Sean Stutzman (0-4, 8.31 ERA) is expected to start for the AirHogs. RHP James Dykstra (8-4, 3.73 ERA) is expected to get the ball for the X's. A live stream of the game will be available at mixlr.com/TXAirHogs.
