Defenders Ease the Burden for Local Families

June 12, 2009 - Eastern League (EL1)
Connecticut Defenders News Release

NORWICH, CT- Baseball provides enjoyment and a sense of relief from everyday struggles, with that in mind; the Connecticut Defenders have created a program for families affected by the economic challenges facing our country.

Experts predict that the state of CT will have lost over 100,000 jobs during this vicious decline in our nation's economy. Many of those that have or will lose their jobs are baseball fans and included in that group are numerous Defenders fans. In an effort to ease the challenges that are part of being unemployed, the CT Defenders have created a program that will enable fans that have lost their jobs to attend Defenders games this summer.

100 Reserve Level Seats ($8 value per seat) will be set aside per game for those fans that have lost their job to attend a game with their family. The tickets may be secured via phone or email and left at the will call window. The tickets will be randomly located throughout the ballpark and will be disbursed on a first come, first served basis with no questions asked. Defenders General Manager Charlie Dowd is hopeful that this program will benefit families in the area. "Even in the worst of times, families need to enjoy themselves. We hope that this program will alleviate some of the financial challenges that families face when a job is lost and allow families to spend time together in a fun environment."

Fans interested in securing tickets for any of the remaining games on the 2009 schedule may contact Brendon Porter-Director of Ticket Sales at (860)887-7962 x 105 or at bporter@ctdefenders.com.
