
De Los Santos triple sparks Kernels Win over Snappers

June 30, 2009 - A two run triple by Anel De Los Santos sparked the Kernels to a 4-1 win over the Beloit Snappers on Tuesday night at Pohlman Field in Beloit. Gabe Jacobo tripled to lead off the inning, followed by a walk and stolen base by Matt Crawford. De Los Santos tripled off Beloit reliever Steve Blevins (2-4) and scored on a sacrifice bun by Darwin Perez.
Matt Crawford reached base all four time at bat, going 2-2 with two walks. Roberto Lopez went 1-4 with a double to drive in the Kernels fourth run in the fifth inning to tie the score at 1-1. Kernels starter Ryan Chaffee allowed a run on two hits and struck out eight over seven innings and Andrew Taylor (2-0) struck out three over two innings of relief to pick up the win.
Beloit starter Brad Tippett allowed the Kernels an unearned run on four hits over six innings, with four strikeouts and four walks. Twins 2008 first round draft pick Steve Hicks was 1-3 and drove in Beloit's single run.
