Dayton, Ohio. - On the night of the MLB Futures Game, Dayton's Edwin Arroyo - one of the top prospects in baseball not invited to Seattle - played hero in a Dragons 2-1 victory over the Great Lakes Loons.

Outstanding pitching carried a scoreless tie through the fifth inning when the Loons (9-5, 54-25) finally cracked the scoreboard on a Yeiner Fernandez RBI single off Dayton starter and Midwest League ERA leader Julian Aguiar. Dayton (7-7, 40-40) responded with a go-ahead two-run home run from MLB's No. 26 overall prospect, Edwin Arroyo in the seventh.

Aguiar tossed six innings allowing just one unearned run with no walks and seven strikeouts on 73 total pitches. He was matched by the Loons piggyback tandem of Yon Castro and Adolfo Ramirez who combined to throw six scoreless innings with nine punchouts, two hits, and one walk. Castro made his first appearance since June 9 due to injury.

After allowing six runs in two innings on Tuesday, Dayton reliever Eddy Demurias (W, 1-1) bounced back with two perfect frames in middle relief to aid in the Dragons victory. John Murphy (Sv, 1) shut the door in ninth stranding the tying run on second base.

The Loons have already won the series in Dayton this week by taking four of the first five games. Sunday's 1:05 p.m. EDT finale will be the final game before the longest stretch of days with no baseball in the minors this year. Great Lakes won't play again until next Friday at Dow Diamond against the Fort Wayne TinCaps.
