August 2, 2019 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Winston-Salem Dash News Release

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Winston-Salem Dash will be hosting Cancer Awareness Night in conjunction with Great Clips and the Roc Solid Foundation during their Friday, August 9 game against the Fayetteville Woodpeckers.

As part of the night, fans will receive bracelets when they arrive at BB&T Ballpark that represent one of six different types of cancer: brain cancer, breast cancer, pediatric cancer, lung cancer, melanoma and prostate cancer. Throughout the game, fans will also "raise a hand to raise awareness".

The bracelets will be sponsored by the Roc Solid Foundation, which builds hope for children battling cancer and their families by creating "Ready Bags" containing what families may need for an overnight hospital stay, building custom playsets for children ages 1-8 and facilitating bedroom makeovers for children ages 8-18.

Following the top of the fifth inning, 11-year-old Jacob Brown will complete his Home Run for Life. Jacob is a patient at Brenner Children's Hospital who is currently in remission from bone cancer and has benefitted from the Roc Solid Foundation's programs.

Friday's game will be followed by a fireworks show. For tickets and more information, call the Dash at (336) 714-2287 or visit wsdash.com.

The Winston-Salem Dash are the Class-A Advanced Minor League affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. To purchase tickets and for more information, please call 336-714-2287 or visit www.wsdash.com.
