Potomac Nationals News Release
Woodbridge, VA - All righty then! The Potomac Nationals have a spectacular night planned on Friday, August 9th, as they take on the Lynchburg Hillcats (Cleveland Indians) at Northwest Federal Field. A celebration of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective's 25th anniversary will be accompanied by Pets in the Park, a Juan Soto t-shirt giveaway, DC Basketball Night featuring Etan Thomas and more. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm, while gates open at 6:00pm.
P-Nats players and coaches will wear Ace Ventura: Pet Detective themed jerseys, which feature the teal and orange colors of Ray Finkle and his "Laces Out!" mantra. The jerseys will be sold at silent auction during the game and winners will take home the game-used, autographed collectibles at the end of the night. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the National Kidney Foundation.
Any fan with the moniker "Ace," "Ventura," "Finkle," or "Einhorn" in any part of their full legal game will receive two free reserved tickets for the night' contest. Fans wearing Miami Dolphins gear or Hawaiian shirts will receive 50% off of their ticket purchase.
Potomac staff will wear Pet Detective Badges throughout the game. Ace Ventura trivia will be on the video-board throughout the game. Keep your eyes and ears focused on the sound system throughout the ballpark for various Ace Ventura sound clips and music.
The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a Juan Soto P-Nats t-shirt presented by UniFirst. The current Washington Nationals star dominated in his brief Carolina League tenure, and fans can remember his time in Woodbridge with this "shirsey" replica displaying his uniform number 25 on the back.
In a night that would make Ace Ventura proud, the P-Nats have invited all pet owners to bring their friends to The Pfitz as part of "Pets in the Park" night. Arrive early with your dog, cat, snake, bird, or any other companion to participate in a pre-game pet parade on the field. Please keep track of your pets, or you'll have to hire the pet detective to track them down!
Early arriving fans will have an opportunity to meet DC Basketball legend Etan Thomas as part of the 2019 Legends Autograph Series, presented by Northwest Federal Credit Union. Thomas spent seven seasons with the Wizards, where he contributed to three playoff teams. All celebrity autograph signings at Northwest Federal Field at Pfitzner Stadium are free to fans on a first-come, first-served basis, with lines beginning as soon as gates open.
Representatives from Inova will host a blood drive in front of the ballpark from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. Fans who choose to donate will receive a free ticket voucher to a future P-Nats game and an Inova t-shirt. To sign up, go to potomacnationals.com and click on the promotions link.
The game is also part of the Too Sweeto to be True Loaded Ticket Package. For only $22, fans can select two grandstand seats, two P-Nats caps, two refillable mugs and two Sweeto Burritos (chicken or pork)! Ticket packages must be selected more than 24 hours in advance.
