WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina - Elih Marrero delivered his first Carolina League home run Wednesday night at BB&T Ballpark but the Salem Red Sox fell to the Winston-Salem Dash 12-3.

How it Happened

* The Dash claimed an early 3-0 lead including a home run by Craig Dedelow.

* Michael Osinski led-off the fifth inning with a double when Elih Marrero homered to cut the Dash's lead 3-2.

* Winston-Salem pushed nine runs in the fifth through seventh innings. Andrew Vaughn, Steele Walker and Yeyson Yrizarri all blasted home runs to secure a 12-2 cushion.

* Jagger Rusconi reached on a dropped third strike in the ninth inning and scored on a double by Osinski to cut the lead 12-3 before the Sox ran out of time.

* Elih Marrero: 1-for-4, 2 RBI, R, HR

* Michael Osinski: 3-for-4, RBI, R, 2 2B

Noteworthy

* The four home runs surrendered are a season-high for Salem.
