Danis Leads 'Dogs to Victory

Hamilton, ON - Bulldogs goaltender Yann Danis made 33 saves as the Hamilton Bulldogs won their second game on home ice this season with a 2-1 victory over the Binghamton Senators on Wednesday night. With the victory, the Bulldogs record improves to 5-7-0-1.

The Senators took a 1-0 lead just 3:38 into the first period. Bulldogs goaltender Yann Danis made the initial save on Patrick Eaves' shot, but Charlie Stephens buried the rebound for his second goal of the season.

Hamilton tied the game 2:29 later when Maxim Lapierre snapped a shot from the left face-off circle over Billy Thompson's blocker.

The Bulldogs scored the eventual game winner at the 9:49 mark of the second period on Peter Vandermeer's second goal this season. Marc-Antoine Pouliot, who extended his assist streak to four games on the play, made a long pass from the sideboards, which Vandermeer tipped past Thompson.

Hamilton goaltender Danis stopped 33 of 34 shots to earn the win, while Binghamton goaltender Thompson made 32 saves. Danis, who arrived in Hamilton Wednesday morning after being assigned by the Montreal Canadiens, was named the game's first star.

The Bulldogs and Senators were both 0 for 2 on the power play.

The Bulldogs next game will take place on Friday, November 11th when the Cleveland Barons make their second visit to Copps Coliseum this season.
