Kalamazoo Wings News Release
KALAMAZOO, MI- Dane Fox has been traded from the Vancouver Canucks to the Carolina Hurricanes, and will report to the American Hockey League's Charlotte Checkers.
Fox, 22, has spent the last two seasons with the Wings and has generated 95 points (56 goals, 39 assists) in 123 career games in the ECHL. Fox's 30 goals last season with the Wings were second most on the team, and through 53 games played this year, the left winger has registered a team-high 26 tallies.
Fox was signed as a free agent by the Vancouver Canucks in 2013, in the midst of an overage year with the Erie Otters, which would see the native of Chatham, Ontratio lead the OHL in goals (64) and rank second on his team with 107 points. His performance in that season earned him the OHL's overage Player of the Year award.
Through 53 games this year, Fox has provided balanced scoring for Kalamazoo, having chipped in 50 points (26 goals, 24 assists) and 87 penalty minutes. Fox set a career mark with four goals in Kalamazoo's 5-4 overtime win over the Utah Grizzlies on Saturday at Wings Event Center.
Kalamazoo continues their four-game home stand against the Utah Grizzlies, tonight at 7 p.m. at Wings Event Center. Fans can enjoy $2 beers and $1 hot dogs during the game.
