WEEK IN REVIEW - Wichita headed out on the road for three-straight this past weekend in three different cities. The Thunder won on Friday night by the final score of 3-2 in a shootout at Missouri with the game winner coming from newcomer Miles Koules. He followed that up with the game-winner on Saturday night at Quad City in overtime, giving Wichita a 3-2 victory. On Sunday afternoon, the Thunder stormed back from a 2-0 deficit to knock off the Evansville IceMen by the final of 4-2.
KOOL IT - Miles Koules was acquired in a trade with the Quad City Mallards before the start of the team's seven-game road trip in Allen. He provided plenty of heroics in his first two games in a blue sweater. He scored the game-winner on Friday night in the third round of the shootout and then knocked off his old team with a goal just 25 seconds into the overtime period on Saturday night. The Los Angeles, CA native has 14 points in 47 games this season.
BERGY - Domenic Alberga had a solid weekend for the Thunder. Playing with Ian Lowe and Michael Neal, the rookie forward from Maple, Ontario scored twice on Saturday night and followed that up with a goal and an assist on Sunday. He came into the weekend without a multi-point game in the Air Capital and finished with two points in back-to-back games and his first multi-goal game of the season.
BETWEEN THE PIPES - The Wichita goaltending was outstanding this past weekend. Sean Bonar went 2-0-0-0, winning Friday night against Missouri and Sunday afternoon against Evansville. He finished the weekend with a goals-against average of 1.92 and a solid .925 save percentage, stopping 49 of 53 shots and just four goals against. His best save came in the bottom of round three during the shootout against Missouri when he stopped Sebestien Sylvestre. Adrien Lemay stopped 29 of 31 on Saturday night during the team's overtime win against Quad City.
EXTRA TIME - Wichita's streak of playing past 60 minutes came to an end on Sunday. The Thunder appeared in three-straight games past regulation before a 4-2 win in Evansville. Wichita has played seven of its last 10 games into either overtime or a shootout. It was also the third time this season that the team had three or more games in a row go past the allotted time. Wichita leads the league in overtime games with 19.
TWO SPOT - Wichita fell behind 2-0 in back-to-back games over the weekend and found a way to come from behind to claim a victory. It was the first time this season that the team has been able to win a contest when trailing by two.
ON A ROLL - Wichita is 3-0-0-1 in its last four games and 4-2-2-2 over its last 10. The Thunder won three games in a row for the first time this year and also a season-high three straight on the road.
INDEPENDENCE CUP - The Thunder picked up its first win of the season in the Independence Cup Series against Missouri on Friday. It was the last time the two teams will play each other at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. Wichita will host the Mavericks on March 19th and 20th to close out the season-series.
FINAL TWO - Wichita will head to Allen this weekend for the final two games of the season-series against the Americans. The Thunder are looking for their first win against Allen this year. The two teams will play Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
