5 Things to Know about #DALvCOL

Preseason Momentum

FC Dallas will look to carry its preseason momentum into the 2021 Home Opener. Dallas began preseason with a 4-0 victory over USL Championship side OKC Energy before taking down fellow Championship team Austin Bold FC 3-0. After a scoreless draw away to San Antonio FC, Dallas began its La Copita (a Texas-based preseason tournament) campaign with a 5-0 win over SAFC followed by a 4-2 penalty shootout victory against Austin FC after a 3-3 draw. FCD closed out its preseason with a 3-0 shutout win against rivals Houston Dynamo at BBVA Stadium, which handed Dallas the inaugural La Copita title. All in all, FC Dallas registered a 5-1-0 preseason record with 18 goals scored and three conceded.

New Year, New Faces

Dallas welcomed six new faces to the team for the start of 2021. Kalil ElMedkhar, Nicky Hernandez, José Martínez, Jáder Obrian, Beni RedÅić and Freddy Vargas were all signed in the offseason and participated in the club's preseason training camp. ElMedkhar, Obrian and Vargas featured heavily on the scoresheets in FCD's preseason games. Dallas also added winger Szabolcs Schön from MTK Budapest but the Hungarian won't arrive in Texas until the European season is over.

Unbeaten Streak on the Line

FC Dallas is currently on a 11-game unbeaten streak in home-opening games. The club has an all-time home opener record of 14-4-7 and a 9-1-5 record in openers at Toyota Stadium. Dallas' all-time record in season-opening games stands at 12-4-8.

Against Colorado

Dallas' all-time regular season record against Colorado is 34-24-17 with 117 goals scored and 93 conceded. The club's home record against the Rapids is 25-8-6 with 71 goals for and 41 against. Dallas has faced Colorado in season-opening matches three times, not including 2021. Last year, the teams faced just once with Dallas winning 4-1 thanks to a hat trick from Santiago Mosquera.

About Colorado

Colorado ended 2020 in fifth place in the Western Conference with 28 points (1.56 points per game) before falling to Minnesota United 3-0 in the first round of the playoffs. The Rapids' trip to Dallas will also see the return of two familiar faces to Toyota Stadium. Forward Michael Barrios made the switch to Colorado during the offseason after six seasons with FCD and, if he plays on Saturday, he'll make his Colorado competitive debut against his former team. Former FCD Homegrown Kellyn Acosta also made the move from Dallas to Colorado back in 2018 after signing with FCD as a teenager.
